Welcome to Seomra Ranga, the Hub for Primary School Resources. For the overseas visitors “Seomra Ranga” means “classroom” in the Irish language.

Seomra Ranga has been successfully providing tried and tested resources for primary school classrooms since 2007. Since that time, the site has gradually built up a strong following amongst educators as a repository of quality teacher-created resources. The resources on the site, which support all areas of the curriculum, are arranged in accordance with the curricular provisions of the Irish primary school….

Book Review – The Tower Ghost

To mark Earth Day 2024, this resource aims to focus the minds of pupils on climate and climate change and what they can do to be a “Climate Hero” to save our planet. The resource contains information on climate, climate change, the effects of climate change on the world and what small actions pupils can take to play their part in slowing down the effects of climate change.

Summer Hanging Basket

This visual arts lesson could be done in the final term and is suitable to be integrated into a summer or gardening theme in the classroom. Pupils have to design and cut flowers and leaves and stick them onto a hanging basket background.

Create a Character Vocabulary Booklet

This resource consists of a 23-page booklet (printed two pages per A4 sheet) for pupils to assist them in creating a memorable character for their piece of Narrative Writing. It gives pupils lots of examples of words to use when describing aspects of a character which they can use in their own pieces of creative writing. It also gives examples of more interesting vocabulary and phrases that they can use for character creation.

CVC Booklet – Medial E

This 20-page phonics booklet is aimed at infant pupils or SEN pupils at the beginning of work on phonics. It is based on their knowledge of CVC words with medial E. The resource could be used as a teaching tool or alternatively, it could be used as a form of practice and/or assessment. The booklet has a range of activities for pupils to complete to practise their CVC words.

Lollipop Seascape Art

This is a nice visual arts lesson to do during the summer term. It could be done as a standalone art lesson, or it could be done as part of a “Marine” theme in the classroom. The picture is created using lollipop sticks, coloured paper and glue. It is probably more suited to pupils in younger/middle standards.

Book Review – Puffling and the Egg

This is a wonderful, engaging book with fabulous illustrations about a puffling who finds an egg and looks to find its nest; it meets some challenges such as the windy weather along the way to fulfil its quest. On its journey, it meets a variety of both land and sea creatures e.g. a rabbit, a cormorant, a storm petrel and an octopus to name but  a few.
